National Model Aviation Day Fun Fly & AMA Foundation Challenge


The Newport News Park Radio Control Club will host an event in celebration of National Model Aviation Day on October 12, 2019, supporting the Academy of Model Aeronautics (AMA) mission to promote development of model aviation as a recognized sport and worthwhile recreation activity. The AMA serves as the official national body for model aviation in the United States.

The public is invited to celebrate National Model Aviation Day with the members of the Newport News Park Radio Control Club at the NNPRCC Flying Field. During this event, NNPRCC members will be raffling off prizes to raise funds for the AMA Foundation.

Raffle tickets for the Grand Prize are available now up until the National Model Aviation Day event. Raffle tickets for Featured Prizes available exclusively during the event. You do not have to be present to win.

  • This event is FREE and OPEN for everyone!

  • Aerobatic flight demonstrations! (fixed-wing aircraft and helicopter)

  • Plenty of food - come hungry! (donations requested)

  • Watch pilots fly radio-controlled aircraft, learn about flying radio control and even fly one yourself! For a $1 donation, you can:

    • Experience flight using a ‘buddy box’ with an expert pilot

    • Try flying virtually using a flight simulator
